CIS X RC1 Peer Learning & Workshop-Responsible Vibe Coding

On 20 April 2026, HSUHK Cloud Innovation School and Lee Yick Hoi Lun Mosaic College (RC1) co-organized the Peer Learning & Workshop – Responsible Vibe Coding for RC1 residents. The workshop introduced participants to the emerging practice of AI-assisted “Vibe Coding” and provided a meaningful platform for students to explore how generative AI tools can support coding, problem-solving, and digital innovation in a responsible manner.

Adopting a train-the-trainer approach, HSUHK Computing and Information Management students first examined the strengths and limitations of AI-assisted coding, including how AI can accelerate idea generation, prototyping, and debugging while still requiring careful human judgement. They then translated their learning into a peer-led workshop for IT students from non-programming backgrounds, guiding participants through hands-on activities and encouraging them to understand both the possibilities and responsibilities of using AI in software development. 

The initiative highlighted CIS’s commitment to innovative pedagogy, peer learning, and responsible technology adoption. More importantly, it reinforced that while AI can enhance productivity and lower the entry barrier to digital creation, strong foundations in requirement analysis, system design, logical thinking, testing, and software engineering remain essential for developing reliable and sustainable solutions. Through this first-of-its-kind approach, CIS successfully encouraged students to learn, practise, teach, and grow together, extending the impact of AI and innovation education beyond the classroom.
