The Cloud Innovation School (CIS) is committed to providing a dynamic platform for academic staff to refresh and expand their knowledge of the latest cloud technologies through online academy resources. In showcasing the unique “Liberal + Professional” education model of the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), CIS is dedicated to developing and offering online courses aimed at enhancing both the general understanding of cloud technologies and the professional skills required to master them.
Contemporary Information Technology – Cloud Innovation Technology is a comprehensive course that explores the rapidly evolving field of cloud computing and its impact on modern information technology. From cloud computing to blockchain, from Big Data technology to artificial intelligence and machine learning, these rapidly changing information technologies are reshaping our society.
This module provides a broad overview of contemporary cloud innovation technologies from a laypersonʼs perspective, and their impact on our everyday life. Apart from providing a basic understanding of the technologies and their principles, the module also discusses their historical backgrounds, potential applications, and their social, security and ethical concerns.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate (link)
AWS Academy provides higher education institutions with a free, ready-to-teach cloud computing curriculum that prepares students to pursue industry-recognized certifications and in-demand cloud jobs. The curriculum helps educators stay at the forefront of AWS Cloud innovation so that they can equip students with the skills they need to get hired in one of the fastest-growing industries. AWS provides a wide range of cloud-based technology solutions, including storage and content delivery, managed databases, networking tools, developer tools, management tools, security & identity management systems, analytics, game development, mobile services, application services, and more.
CIS is a member of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate program. AWS Educate is Amazon’s global initiative to provide students and educators with the resources needed to accelerate Cloud-related learning needs. With the grants-based access, it provides hands-on experience with AWS technology, cloud training resources, course content and collaboration forums.
How to apply?
CIS has submitted an institution application for AWS Academy on behalf of the University. University Educators can join the AWS Academy through CIS. Please contact cis@hsu.edu.hk for information and registration.
