Operation and Applications of Wall-Climbing Robot Systems Workshop

Operation and Applications of Wall-Climbing Robot Systems Workshop

On 26 June 2026, HSUHK Cloud Innovation School hosted the Operation and Applications of Wall-Climbing Robot Systems workshop on campus.

We were honoured to welcome Prof. Li Xin, recipient of the CIC Construction Innovation Award 2025 (International Grand Prize), and his engineer, Mr Zhu, who shared valuable insights into cutting-edge robotics technologies.

The workshop was well structured and comprehensive, covering core theoretical foundations, real-world case scenarios, technical discussions, live demonstrations, and hands-on try-outs. Participants gained a clear and practical understanding of the capabilities and potential applications of wall-climbing robots, including how such systems can support inspection, maintenance, construction safety, and other challenging tasks in built environments. By bringing cutting-edge robotics into the campus environment, CIS demonstrated its dedication to promoting innovation and advanced technologies while creating opportunities for students and colleagues to experience industry-relevant solutions first-hand.

The activity further strengthened CIS’s role in fostering industry-academia collaboration and connecting technological innovation with real-world impact. Through the sharing by Prof. Li Xin and his team, participants were able to see how research, engineering expertise, and practical deployment can come together to address real operational needs. The workshop also reflected CIS’s ongoing efforts to broaden students’ and colleagues’ exposure to advanced robotics, smart infrastructure, and innovation-driven applications beyond the classroom.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the Campus Development and Management Office (CDMO) for their great support in facilitating the outdoor practical sessions during the Yellow and Red Rainstorm Warnings. We would also like to thank Prof. Li and his team for their thoughtful preparation and insightful sharing, as well as all participants who joined us for this meaningful workshop.
